News for National Cardiac Societies

2020-07-03

We are at a vital moment for ESC Congress – The Digital Experience. Promoting this unique opportunity to your members is very important to us. Thousands are registering daily so encourage them to join them and schedule the time they will need in August to absorb the vast experience that is on offer – at no charge.

This is the event you have been waiting for, and it’s all at your fingertips for four full days. Where else will you be able to access such a wealth of cardiovascular science?

  • Four new ESC Clinical Practice Guidelines
  • 12 Hot Lines
  • Interactive sessions
  • COVID-19 and CVD sessions
  • More than 400 topics covering all aspects of cardiology
  • More than 4,000 abstracts featuring new science

This is the science your members need for their daily practice, and it is an essential educational event for your junior cardiologists.  New banners can be found in Box and we ask that you feature them prominently on your webpages.

Thank you for your support!

Best wishes,

Prof. Jose Luis Zamorano and Prof. Franz Weidinger

Survey results on STEMI admissions during COVID-19

STEMI patient admissions dropped by more than 50% during the COVID-19 outbreak, according to an extensive ESC survey of the cardiology community worldwide. “Fear of catching the coronavirus means patients are too afraid to go to hospital for life-saving treatment. We must continue to save the lives we know how to save,” said ESC President Professor Barbara Casadei. Read the ESC STEMI paper .

The ESC Advocacy Division published a statement earlier this month, stressing the collateral damage caused by COVID-19 to CVD patients and discussing the exponential repercussions. Available here.

Young cardiologist organisations have translated into their own languages the frequently asked questions on the page ‘COVID-19 & Heart Patients’. This useful resource for patients is now available in Armenian, German, Italian, Maltese, Portuguese, Serbian, Romanian and Russian here.

All translations are validated and endorsed by NCS. New translated versions will be uploaded to the ESC website. Feel free to then disseminate them widely.
